  1. My parents took my siblings and me, all young at the time, to Sea World. My memory fails to recollect every creature, but we saw plenty of marine life. My little wandering legs were made to roam, so I got away from my family for a short period of time and found myself i the below ground viewing area, face to face with a 12,000 pound Orcinus Orca, or Killer Whale, or Black Fish, with a collapsed dorsal fin. The Orca captivated my young eyes and imagination. The little boy me mistook the large white spots at the front of his head for large eyes and believed that he looked happy in such a large 27 meter wide tank, but wild Black Fish swim up to one hundred miles a day, and the spots are not eyes.
Sitting in class for an hour a half each day, my legs and back get restless, but my legs and back are afforded chances to stand and stretch, and the school day does end.
Somewhere around 30,000 people visit Sea World everyday, so the blame can’t be placed entirely upon them. Every visitor is voting “Yes” to keeping magnificent creatures imprisoned.

  2. The weather is cold. I should've known since I grew up in Chicago that Alaska in April would be slightly more chilling. I have little provisions left but more than two months before the snow even begins to think about melting. It took me a long time to get to where I am now but being here on this crisp Saturday morning atop Mt. McKinley is worth more than the thousands of days I spent in school. I've learned so little there in comparison to the life long skills I've picked up during my journey through the fly over states as well as the dry deserts. The snow is pure white and my breathe forms small white clouds that disappear into the sun. I've never been able to escape the cold so I've learned to embrace it and live within it's confines. Mountains as tall as this were never my dream but have since become my reality.
